Assignment Camp Zama

Greetings:
Glad I found this forum and believe it will be very useful. Looking at an assignment to Camp Zama and seeking information on the area, especially bicycling.
I look forward to bringing my Trek 520 touring bike and getting a folding bike (Dahon?) as soon as I arrive.
Lots of files to read.

I am stationed in Diego Garcia right now, but my next assignment is at Yokota AB. Yes I know the Camp Zama area well! Good biking but Japan is very congested as so many places in Japan. You can enjoy a ride, but you have to be very defensive rider. You will deal with narrow roads, ton of blind spots, but we as cyclists deal with that every ride. Take care, Freeride39

Hello North"wet", I might be able to help you locally, as I live in Aobadai and visit Camp Zama now and then, taking "middle-weight" roads 140 and 51. I think it is about 8 miles away from my dorm. I've got a Trek 520 as well, and recently got my front rack and panniers hooked up (replacing a perineum- and cavernosal artery-crushing backpack, and adding a wind-pusher...).

I'll be leaving at the end of August. If you get in before then, feel free to PM me and we can set up a time to ride around.

Hank
