Hi guys,

We are a swiss couple travelling by tandem bike. We loved our last trip in Japan (a bit of Honshu, north of Shikoku and north of Kyushu) in 2013 and decided to come back with our little son of 2 years old and the grand-parents. We would like to ride in south Kyushu.

In 2013 we rode quite a lot (150km a day) and on big crowded road but with the baby and the grand-parents we would like to choose less crowded road.

Which routes do you recommand?

Many thanks,
Julie and family

Avoid any of the coastal roads. Criss-cross the interior instead.

Avoiding the coastal road because of the trafic or the hills?

Did this in Golden Week a few years back and had a great time. Every day was amazing.

If you haven't already done, might want to check search the journals on CrazyGuyonaBike website. Often have lots of pics and commentary about routes that help make decisions.

And, of course, ridewithgps will have lots of options as well for planning, but doesn't have as much of the pictures and impressions.
